Dunn Loring Rotary Club won the Community Partnership Award for the work the club has done providing scholarship, volunteer, and financial support to Pimmit Hills High School.  The award was presented to the club at the Partners in Education and MentorWorks Awards ceremony at Falls Church High School, May 25, 2006.
The award was one of the Partners in Education and MentorWorks Awards presented by Fairfax County Schools to organizations in Fairfax County that work in partnership with schools in the Fairfax County School System.  This is the first time that a Rotary Club has won a Partners in Education award.
The Rotary Club of Dunn Loring began it's association with Pimmit Hills High School in the fall of 1998. Since that time  our members have participated in Career Days, Ethics Days,  Teacher's Recognition Days and many other events.  On a social note, we helped sponsor Pimmit's first High School Prom and it's first Fall Dance. Our members have helped with Fall "Clean- Up Day" and have provided other assistance to the school whenever a request has been made.
Since 2001, our club has given over $32,000.00 in scholarships to 30 graduates from Pimmit Hills to continue their higher education. Our first winner is now attending George Mason University and is working on his doctorate in electrical engineering. Our members have also personally contribute funds to help one of past scholarship recipients when this student was facing very difficult personal losses and financial struggles.
The Rotary Club Of Dunn Loring became an official "Partner in Education" in 2002.
